The decision to hire a nanny for your children is bound to come with many questions- we are here to help! The following questions are commonly asked by parents during this process. If your question or concern is not answered here, please contact us anytime.

What is your process for screening Nanny candidates?

Each nanny applicant completes an extensive application and participates in a thorough screening interview. Following the satisfactory completion of the initial screening, the agency begins a comprehensive background investigation to include: Criminal History, Motor Vehicle Records check, Social Security verification, Education verification.  Applicants also complete a TB skin test (as recommended by the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services).  Upon request, our agency can also coordinate drug screening.

How long will it take to find a Nanny?

On average, the process will take three to six weeks from application to hire. If you have an immediate need, please let us know and we may be able to assist in securing temporary care.

How much should I expect to pay a Nanny?

A Nanny’s salary will generally range from $10-20 per hour, though many factors will influence this number. For instance, family expectations - hours per week, number of children, and responsibilities outside of childcare (household management, cooking, light cleaning, etc.). Also, qualifications of the Nanny - education, experience, and additional certifications.

What benefits should I offer a Nanny?

Many families offer health benefits, paid vacation/sick time, car stipends, gas allowances, retirement plans, etc. These items are encouraged, but not required.

Am I required to pay taxes and social security?

Both the nanny and family are required by law to pay both taxes and social security. For more information, please consult your tax advisor or Breedlove Payroll and Tax Service (see Resources section of our website).

Are candidates CPR and First Aid certified?

All candidates are required to secure or renew CPR and First Aid Certification within 30 days of their first date of employment.

What is your replacement policy?

Premier Family Staffers is proud to offer a six month replacement guarantee at no additional cost to you. If at anytime during the six months after placement you are seeking a replacement for your nanny under the terms of the Client Agreement, simply contact Premier and we will find a replacement free of charge. After six months, we gladly offer discounts as set forth in our Client Agreement.
